AN INVESTIGATION ON SOME MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF THE TUFT CARPETS PRODUCED BY HOMOPOLYMER, COPOLYMER AND THERMOPLASTIC POLYOLEFIN MIXED POLYPROPYLENE BULK CONTINUOUS FILAMENT YARNS

There are several parameters that affect the mechanical properties of carpets such as yarn characteristic and carpet construction. Yarn material is one most important factors which determine usage performance by consumers. This study investigated behaviours produced from polypropylene (PP) bulk continuous filament (BCF) yarns with not only homopolymer but also copolymer thermoplastic polyolefin mixed. In this respect, ten samples different type BCF pile were examined. Experimental results indicated mixing or resulted improvement in thickness loss resilience properties. addition, included exhibited higher compared to mix both dynamic static loading. PP had considerable influences on compressibility carpets, whereas there was no significant effect tuft withdrawal force.
